Outside of work, Kat enjoys putting her creative side into gardening and interior design. She also enjoys reading, keeping fit, socialising and most importantly- family time with her husband and her two, (not so little) children.
Kat has been part of the Farsley team for over 10 years and also works alongside Jon and the Partners at Dental Excellence- Harewood.
She is extremely passionate about her career choice and loves it today as much as she did when she qualified. Kat endeavours to make a difference to all the patients she treats.
While she loves to carry out routine treatments and tries her best to motivate everyone she meets – Kat gets most satisfaction out of the more challenging, complex gum treatment and looking after patients post-operative from implant placement.
Kat likes to keep up to date with new techniques available to help her provide expert care such as photodynamic therapy (laser treatment) and perio-flow. Recently she travelled to Morocco as a volunteer to help relieve children from their dental pain- “This was a heart-breaking, yet truly rewarding experience. I plan more volunteer trips in the future”.
Katie has been at Farsley since 2011 when she joined us as a Dental nurse. Katie has recently taken on the role of assistant Practice Manager and works closely to Vicky in the offices at The Engine Room.
Katie has two children- Ivy and Ted and in her spare time enjoys, family days out, socialising with friends and walking her chocolate Labrador- Bobby.
In her spare time, Kelly enjoys spending time with her Partner Phil and her 2 beautiful girls- Molly and Maya.
Kelly has been working at Farsley since 2004, Kelly left the Practice in 2011 to work for her family business- Palmers Plants but returned to Farsley in 2013 because she missed her other family..
Kelly works as a Dental Nurse with Matt and Jon.
When Lauren is not at work, she enjoys holidays in the sunshine, going to the gym, make-up and all other things that are girly. Lauren enjoys seeing her friends and spending time with her two crazy Cocker Spaniels – Ralph and Rosie.
At a young age Lauren decided she wanted a career in Dentistry. After finishing her A levels at sixth form she worked for 2 years at Leeds Dental Institute gaining her NVQ level 3 in Dental Nursing.
Lauren went on to work as a Dental Nurse full time in a private practice and also completed a Higher Education Diploma part time at University of Leeds.
In 2009 Lauren went back to the LDI as a Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy student. She graduated in December 2011, and has since worked in many practices as both a Hygienist and a Therapist.
“I love my job!” Lauren really enjoys building rapport with the patients she treats and is committed to helping all her patients achieve the best oral health possible.
Originally from Manchester, he is an avid Manchester United fan and he is season ticket holder at Old Trafford, often going home at weekends for the games. He has even travelled around Europe to watch his team.
Liam graduated from the Leeds Dental Institute in 2011. He then completed a vocational training year in North Yorkshire, before Jon invited him to join the team here at Farsley in August of 2012.
At the earliest opportunity, Liam passed the entrance exams for Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and was awarded the (MJDF) diploma in 2013.
He is currently working towards the FGDP Diploma in Restorative Dentistry at The University of Manchester.
Liam enjoys providing dental care for the whole family. His friendly, enthusiastic approach has resulted in a dedicated following, and he has established himself as a popular dentist here at the practice. Liam provides all his treatment in a calm and assured manner, which is great for nervous patients. He believes everyone should be treated in the same way as he himself would like to be treated.
He has just completed the Special Interest module in endodontics, as he works towards his Diploma in Restorative Dentistry.
Outside of work, he enjoys going to the gym, swimming and road cycling, recently completing the 2016 Tour de Yorkshire race in Scarborough. He enjoys live music and going to festivals and gigs, and wishes he had more free time to learn to play guitar.
Matt provides routine and aesthetic dentistry, improving people’s appearance and enjoying seeing the extra confidence that this can bring to people. He also enjoys being able to alleviate people’s dental pain, providing pain-free dentistry in a relaxed and friendly environment. Matt believes in using a minimally invasive approach, often straightening teeth using Invisalign® or cosmetic fixed braces, whitening and using purely additive ‘composite bonding’ as opposed to destructive traditional techniques.
Matt qualified from Sheffield Dental School in 2010 after five years of training, and was awarded an honours degree for high achievement as well as the Medical Chirurgical Society’s elective prize. In 2012 he was awarded the diploma of membership of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He then worked as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Pinderfields Hospital before returning to general practice, and was very happy to be invited to join the team at Farsley.
He completed the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry with the Royal College of Surgeons, learning to manage complex cases with the most up-to-date techniques. He then undertook a year of postgraduate research to convert this to a Masters degree, which he passed with distinction. The findings from his research were recently published in the British Dental Journal, the profession’s main national publication, and he has also published cases in ‘Dental Practice’ magazine. Matt has since been asked to review research for entry into ‘Clinical & Experimental Dental Research’ as well as the British Dental Journal.
Matt recently won the prestigious ‘Best Young Dentist’ award at the national ‘Dentistry awards’, as judged by a respected panel of dental professionals.
He has carried out many trips abroad providing emergency dental treatment to people otherwise without access to dental care. He volunteered for 6 months after university and still volunteers each year, which includes work in Cambodia, India, the Bornean rainforest, Fiji, the Peruvian Amazon and most recently refugee camps in Greece and Bangladesh, working with the Rohingya refugees displaced from Myanmar.
In his spare time he is a keen cyclist, when possible travelling abroad to find big hill climbs! He also enjoys swimming, hiking with his fiancée, watching live music and travelling.
