Frequently Asked Questions
Q: At what age should my child have their first dental visit?
It is generally recommended that a baby has their first visit to the dentist before their first birthday, preferably at some point between the 6 month and 12 month points. You should ensure that you at least visit a dentist with your child as soon as the first tooth appears.
Q: Why should my child visit a children’s dental clinic rather than a normal dentist?
Your child’s care should be provided by somebody who is an expert in paediatric dentistry as children have a completely different set of needs when it comes to healthcare. A paediatric dentist will have had extra training specific to caring for children so it is highly recommended that you see a paediatric dentist.
Q: How should I clean my baby’s teeth?
For infants, brushing once a day at bed time with a toothbrush with soft bristles and a small head is the best choice. This will remove plaque which, if left, can lead to decay.
