What do I do if I have an emergency when the office is closed?

Patients in severe pain will be seen the same day provided they telephone before 10.30am. If you have a dental emergency outside our usual practice hours, telephone our answering service on 0113 2393026. A fee will be charged for re-opening the surgery out of hours.

I have a temporary crown. What happens if it comes off or breaks?

If your temporary crown comes off or breaks, carefully wrap up the piece(s), place it in a protective container, and contact our office for an appointment to re-apply it as soon as possible. Do NOT attempt to re-glue the pieces or crown back into position.

What different payment options do you provide?

For your convenience we have several methods of payment.

You can pay by cash, cheque with a guarantee card or if you prefer, by debit/credit card. We accept Switch, Visa or Mastercard. Payment for dental care must be made on the day
of treatment. If payment is not made on the day of treatment, subsequent appointments cannot be honoured. Please respect our payment terms.

If you are interested in a payment plan, we offer a range of low interest plans to suit your budget. Our knowledgeable office staff will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have.

How can I safely whiten my teeth?

Modern dentistry offers a number of ways to whiten your smile, from at-home whitening procedures to in-office treatments. We can help evaluate the potential for whitening your teeth, based on their current color and the causes of any discoloration. We use the a number of whitening methods, which can make your teeth several shades whiter. If you are interested in a whiter smile, please contact us for a consultation.

I do not like drills. Are there any other options?

We offer air abrasion, which removes decay and prepares teeth for fillings without anesthetic and without a drill. Dr. Jon simply cleans and prepares the site to be filled by sending a blast of tiny, high-speed aluminum oxide particles into the cavity. The particles hit the area under high pressure, bounce off at high speeds, and blast away the decay. Air abrasion is quiet, quick, relatively painless and saves healthy tooth structure. Best of all—there are no drills!

Do I have to floss everyday? Is it really that important?

Flossing is the foundation for good dental health. Regular flossing goes a long way and is critical for overall oral health. It loosens food particles in tight places, gets rid of plaque that a toothbrush alone cannot remove, and exercises your gums. Flossing helps you avoid gum disease, so think of it as the finishing touch after brushing.

I want my front teeth to look better, but do not want to wear braces. What do you recommend?

We have a number of ways to improve your smile without the use of unsightly metal braces. For slightly crooked or uneven teeth, a little reshaping and a few porcelain veneers may be enough to give you a bright, uniform smile. We also offer Clearstep braces, which can be worn comfortably and invisibly behind your teeth. Please call us to discuss what might work best for you.
