Endodontics at Farsley Dental
Endodontics is a rising specialism in dentistry which aims to ensure that teeth are kept for life. Our dentist here at Farsley, Jon Swarbrigg is a specialist in endodontic treatment, ensuring that our patients can maintain their healthy smile for a lifetime. Endodontics deals directly with tooth pain, and performing treatments such as root canal and other procedures on the interior of the tooth.
If you’re experiencing tooth pain, such as prolonged sensitivity to heat or equally the cold, discolouration of the tooth, swelling of gums adjacent to the tooth or even tenderness to the tooth, then a visit to the endodontist is a good idea. The common reasons for any tooth inflammation or infection are deep cavities, repeated dental procedures or cracks and chips. Trauma to a specific tooth can also cause inflammation, which can lead to discoloration of the tooth. It is important that this is treated as soon as possible, as it can result in serious pain, or lead to an abscess.
Endodontics deals mainly with the dental pulp, which is in the centre of the tooth and is made up of connective tissues and cells called odontoblasts. So, if you’re experiencing any of the aforementioned pain, visiting the endodontist is particularly useful, as they are able to diagnose and treat rapidly. Here at Farsley, as well as years of experience in the field, we use state-of-the-art technology to ensure that our patients are treated as quickly and as comfortably as possible. In many cases, visiting the endodontist means that an infected tooth can usually be saved.
Our specialist here at Farsley, Jon undertook research at Leeds University to gain an MSc in restorative dentistry in 2011 with a particular interest in endodontics, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012.
